Google Docs very inconsistent

When working in Google Docs, sometimes it works fine. Other times it underlines in the wrong place but has the right info. Yet other times, it underlines but does not bring up the dialog box (though that may be only on large documents).
Am I right that if I don't run a report, and just use the underlining, I'm getting all the issues?
