Search auto-navigates on edit

I often use search to find a place I need to make edits. But when I start to edit with the search box open, it quickly navigates away from where I was working. I was not expecting that. I prefer to use the up/down arrows to navigate to the next match after I complete my edits. The auto-nav is an irritation. My workaround is to put the cursor near the mating word, then close search. If I close search without setting the cursor nearby, the window view jumps to the current cursor location.
