Unable to self edit without ignoring first

So for many of the errors I make, I spot what's wrong the moment I see the underlined text. I usually navigate to the word and correct it, but with PWAE, it won't let me edit the text without hitting ignore first.
If the correction suggested isn't correct, I have to first ignore the suggestion and then edit the word rather than be able to just edit the word myself.
It's a minor issue, but it slows me down.
I'd much rather be able to amend the word myself, choose the correct option, or ignore the suggestions.
